Port McNeill, BC

Port McNeill is located on Northeast coast of Vancouver Island, off the west coast of British Columbia. A coastal setting and abundant rainforest supports many species of fish and wildlife. The mild climate allows for year 'round outdoor recreational activity and is enjoyed by visitors from all over the world.

Two million hectares of forested land in the Forest District are administered out of Port McNeill. This rich forest resource base provides a tremendous supply of timber, approximately 8% of the total Provincial harvest. Prime employers are Western Forest Products and LeMare Lake Logging along with numerous smaller contracting companies.

Port McNeill is the center of aquaculture activity on northern Vancouver Island and is best situated to service the industry with related activities such as salmon processing (Beaver Cove) construction of net pens and floats.

Surrounded by a spectacular natural environment, our Town is a prime location for tourism developments and our harbour facility is an asset for any marine-oriented operation. Increased tourism activities in the Port McNeill area now generate over $30 million annually, and opportunities in this industry continue to grow. We have an active small business sector, Town Council and Chamber of Commerce, all keen to encourage new tourism developments.
